Neuro-Regulation Based Care — Beyond Joint Adjustments
A modern approach that treats the nervous system, not just the spine
My approach to chiropractic care goes beyond simply adjusting joints. I focus on how the nervous system regulates the body, particularly the balance between the sympathetic ("fight-or-flight") and parasympathetic ("rest-and-repair") branches of the autonomic nervous system.
The spine is not just a mechanical structure — it is the primary communication pathway of the nervous system. When spinal segments lose healthy motion or become irritated, they can influence how the brain and body regulate stress, pain, digestion, sleep, and recovery.
My clinical approach integrates vagus-nerve–informed assessment and treatment. The vagus nerve is a central regulator of the parasympathetic nervous system and plays a key role in calming the body, supporting digestion, stabilizing heart rate variability, and restoring resilience after stress.
Many chronic symptoms — from muscle tension and headaches to fatigue, anxiety, or poor recovery — can be linked to dysregulation within this neuro-regulatory system.
Looking beyond joint function to the nervous system's response to stress
In practice, this means I evaluate not only joint function, but also how the nervous system is adapting to stress. I look for patterns of autonomic imbalance — such as excessive sympathetic activation or reduced vagal tone — and tailor adjustments to help restore more balanced neurological signalling.
My chiropractic adjustments are designed to: restore healthy spinal movement, reduce irritation within the nervous system, support vagal tone and parasympathetic activation, and improve the body's ability to regulate itself. The goal is not simply symptom relief, but helping the nervous system shift into a state where healing and regulation can occur naturally.
This neuro-regulation–focused approach is particularly helpful for patients experiencing:
Long-standing muscle tension and pain patterns that haven't resolved with other treatments.
Cervicogenic headaches and neck pain driven by spinal irritation.
Physical manifestations of chronic stress — tight shoulders, digestive issues, poor sleep.
Nervous system "stuck in overdrive" — unable to fully rest or recover after stress.
Persistent tiredness that isn't resolved by rest alone.
Taking much longer than expected to bounce back after physical or emotional stress.
